Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield: JOWITT, VINCENT. Private. No 24355. 1st Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. Born Wortley, Barnsley. Son of Titus and Rosina Caroline Jowitt of Storrs Farm, Wortley. Was an assistant on the staff of the Emley Council School. Lodged with Mrs S. Clegg at Church Street, Emley. Enlisted January 1916. Had been serving in Salonica for seven weeks when he was killed on 11.10.1916, aged 20 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated DOIRAN MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, GREECE. ROH:- Emley War Memorial.
