Wilhelm Albrecht, 1.Fürst von Montenuovo, was the illegitimate son of Adam Abrecht, Graf und Herr von Neipperg, born prior to his 1821 marriage to his second wife, Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma, the widow of Emperor Napoleon I and the daughter of Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor, and Princess Maria Teresa of Naples and Sicily. He was married in Vienna on February 22, 1851 to Gräfin Juliana Batthyány-Strattmann, by whom he had three children.
