Son of Edward and Robina Grant Blake, of 45, Belmont Hill, Lewisham, London. Born at Kroonstad, South Africa. Service no: S/4620 Regiment/Service: Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Unit/Ship: 12th Battalion Place of Death: Salonica (Thessaloniki) DUNDEE CORPORAL KILLED. Corporal W. G. Blake, of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, has been killed in action. Corporal Blake, enlisted in September 1914, in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and had been at the front for about a year. The deceased soldier was brought up in Dundee. He was a worker in the Free Breakfast Mission, Dundee, and was also well known in Willison Church being a member of the choir. Prior to enlistment Corporal Blake was employed by J. & A. D. Grimond, Ltd, Dundee. Dundee Courier 7th October 1916
