78077 Sapper W. K. TILLEY Royal Engineers 30 August 1915 Age 19 Rest In Peace

He was the son of William and Mary J. Tilley, of 18 Salisbury Street, Chester. He was a Sapper in the Royal Engineers, VIII Corps Signal Company. Service Number: 78077. Formerly of the Cheshire Brigade Royal Field Artillery before transferring to the Royal Engineers, with whom he was on active service in the Dardanelles. He had left England on the 6th July for the Dardanelles. He was on the peninsula for about a fortnight when he contracted dysentery, and was removed to Lemnos where he died on 30th August in hospital, of dysentery, aged 19 yrs.
