Yiorgios Demetrios Stasinopoulos

Karatoulas (Greek: Καράτουλας) is a village in the municipality of Megalopoli, Arcadia, Greece. It is situated on a hillside in the southwestern foothills of the Mainalo mountains, at about 750 m elevation. It is 2 km northwest of Vangos, 3 km southeast of Lykochia and 9 km northeast of Megalopoli. Trilofo ( Τρίλοφος ) Small mountainous village north of Megalopolis , between the villages of Nea Ekklousoula and Lykochia . It is built at the foot of the southwest of Menalos at an altitude of 550 and in a green location. The village is located on the road that connects Megalopolis with Lykochia , which is a branch of the Megalopolis - Karytaina road , just after the archaeological site of Megalopolis . The village holds few inhabitants. In the 1991 census, only 106 were recorded. Nearby, the village of Trilofo, is the village Karytaina/Karatoulas, just 5km away, was taken by the Greek rebels on the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence in 1821. In 1826 Theodoros Kolokotronis used the Karytaina Castle , with a 12th-century church inside, as a base of operations against Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt and as a shelter for women and children. The castle was repaired by Kolokotronis, who erected a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Ekklisia Panayia. On the south side of the hill, at the top, is Panagia at Kastroor "Kolokotroni church" with remarkable marble capitals, decorated according to the Byzantine tradition. The 1867 Demos of Methoni Eklogikos Katalogos (Electoral Register) lists two Stasinopoulos men residing at the village of Mimerizi. They were: Georgios Stasinopoulos, age 47, and Panagiotis Stasinopoulos, age 32. Both were sons of Demetrios Stasinopoulos, who is not listed and presumably was deceased by that date.
