Zahir Hrnjica

The cruelty of the war was paid for by the son of Hamdo and Zemka, the commander of the 1st Battalion, Zahir Hrnjica. He died while on duty from his own soldier in an accident on the battlefield in Parsovići, on October 24, 1993. Left behind to mourn are two daughters, Elvisa and Melisa, brothers Jusuf and Adil, and sisters Rabija, Zehra and Hajra. As a hospitality worker, an employee of "Turist" from Jablanica, with a degree in Catering School, Zahir Hrnjica was well known in this area. He quickly established friendly relations with everyone he came in contact with, which he transferred to the unit in which he was the commander, and with which he participated in numerous, successful actions. He has been a member of the "Green Berets" since their establishment, and a member of the Army of RBiH since its founding, he has made a significant contribution to their organization, popularization and training. He also performed the smallest tasks that he was sure would be important for achieving freedom not only in this area but in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1994, he was posthumously awarded the highest war award "Golden Lily." The "Golden Lily" badge is awarded to members of the Bosnian Armed Forces who excelled in armed opposition to the aggressor, contributed to the expansion of free parts of the Republic and performed several acts in which their personal courage and sacrifice were expressed.
