Žanka Stokić

Actress who with her specific humour made us laugh until we cried. Upon the liberation of Belgrade she was labelled by her colleagues and communists for acting during the war and in that manner cooperating with the occupier. She was arrested, humiliated and tortured. Upon her wish her coffin full of flowers was taken in a cart to Topčider Cemetery. The crowd was huge and as the coffin passed many people paid their respects by kneeling. The monument at the grave was erected by her maid Magda.
