On one occasion, he said that he was proud to belong to the generation that had the honor of being part of the RBiH Army. Witnesses say that he said from his deathbed that the greatest honor in his life was to have the opportunity to protect the late president Alija Izetbegović. Zejd Dukmenić was a member of the first presidency of the BiH Taekwondo Association, he is one of the most deserving people for establishing the Taekwondo Association at the state level. Zejd was one of the most authoritative and respected figures in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Taekwondo. He recorded extremely good results as a competitor. That's how it was recorded that he was the champion of Germany and the champion of the former Yugoslavia. In his successful career, he once celebrated in a match against the former European runner-up - Anton Maras, and he also defeated the Asian champion and South Korean representative - Kim Jong Kang in 1985. After finishing his competitive career, he remained in taekwondo. He founded the "Zejd" Academy, and was also the selector of the national team in the period from 1996 to 2004. He left a deep mark in Bosnia and Herzegovina. taekwaondo national team, which achieved many successes under his leadership. At that time, Bosnia and Herzegovina won two medals at European competitions for the first time. Without a doubt, Zejd Dukmenić is the man most responsible for the rise of taekwondo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was born in 1964 in Osijek, Croatia. He is the son of Josip and Marica. He was named Željko at birth. He moved to a better world in Sarajevo in 2019 as Zejd, his sons are Jahja and Isa. The army is responsible for all the big changes in his 55-year-long life. In the army, the one from the former state, the Yugoslav People's Army, he met a man through whom he came to know and accept Islam, and in the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina he became a soldier and a great patriot. Between those big changes, he was a successful athlete - competitor and coach. When the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina began, Zejd was in Germany, which he left immediately and came to defend Bosnia. In June 1992, he joined the police force in Tešnje. After a few months, he was wounded on the Teslić battlefield, and spent two months being treated in Germany. When he healed his wounds, he returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993. He was then assigned to a military training center. After that, for a year he was the commander of the police department of the police reserve station in Dobrinje, Kakanje. In the same year, he was reassigned to the "Black Swans" unit, where he remained until 1998, when he was demobilized.
