He also was known as “Demitrakis.” He lived in Homatada, Messinia, Greece in 1856. “Demitrios Karabatsos” was listed in the 1856 Farmers List as a resident of the village of Homatada. He was age 48, married, with five persons in his family, a georgos (farmer).4 He lived in Hokada, Messinia, Greece in 1867. “Demit[rios] Karabatsos” is listed in the 1867 Methoni Electoral Register as a resident of the village of “Hokada,” father Konstantinos, age 30, a georgos (farmer) Hokada appears to have been an abbreviation or misspelling for the village of Homatada.
